removing leather door cards?

Recommended Posts

List of things to remove/unclip in no particular order, some are obvious but I'll include them anyway.

1) Unscrew door unlock knob - top of door

2) Pull off plastic trim where the door mirror is (triangular piece) it just pulls off - 3 clips I think.

3) 1 screw at the front edge of the door card

4) 2 screws at the rear edge of the door card

5) Unclip the door handle cover (the part you pull on to close the door), to do this there is a small slot at the bottom of it - stick screw driver in and prise off. There will be two big screws under there. Undo these screws and then pull the handle away, I think it comes away along with the leccy mirror button.

6) Now that you've got the handle off there is another screw under there.

7) The door open lever surround needs to come off, slide it to the rear of the door, it may be very tight.

Cool Remove the speaker cover - small slot at the bottom, stick screw driver in and prise off. Screw at the left hand side about 10 o'clock position.

9) The door card sits in about 4 clips on the lower edge of the door. These do not come off - the door just sits in the them when you come to re-assemble.

10) Don't forget to unclip the window and mirror switch cables. The speaker cable might unclip on your car but it may be soldered in - it was on the Storm I did the other week.

That's about it. When you come to re-fit the door card open the window as the door card drops into a plastic channel in the top of the door - it's easier to see with window down. Oh and it can be a pig to align the door card with the plastic channel, the door lock knob pin and the clips in the bottom of the door all at the same time.

Please use the search in future. Best bet is advanced search > +door +card* +remov* > search by interior forum and return topics rather than posts.
