VEEDUBBED 0 Posted July 12, 2007 What kind of noise does your charger make??,metal to metal?,tapping etc.
Clay 0 Posted July 12, 2007 hmmmm... gosh it's very difficult to say, It's almost like a bit of knocking noise. I'll listen again when I get home and let you know. I just know that my old charger never made that noise.
VEEDUBBED 0 Posted July 13, 2007 Seems like a stupid question but did your dad align up the cogged wheels EXACTLY?,also did he spin the charger by hand before fitting it back to the car?.
W3RKD 0 Posted July 13, 2007 It does sound very much like the timing is out on the 120xl belt.
Clay 0 Posted July 13, 2007 Thanks gents. Ok I'll get hold of my dad my and confirm! How/where should the timing be set...? Another mate told me there is a v cut into each little pulley. The main shaft faces up to the counter shaft pulley and that in turn faces out straight. Then when this is done you can fit cambelt....??? I'm just trying to picture this now... VEEDUBBED 0 Posted July 14, 2007 That's right mate, both notches of 'v's point up to midday,if the charger was out, even by just 1 tooth, you'd have felt it while tuning the shaft,it still turns but feels kinda notchy, like it's binding or catching somewere inside the charger.
