ziderapple 0 Posted July 30, 2007 I'm doing an engine rebuild at the moment, I was inspecting my oil pump today and noticed two cracks in the casting, also it looks as though the plate on the pick up is stoved in. I guess this has to be replaced really... (I've posted a wanted ad up if anyone has one)
boost monkey 0 Posted July 30, 2007 Hi mate, Yeah I'd definitely replace that especially if you got the block apart at the mo. I left a dodgy pump in my valver about a year ago, next time I took it up the motorway the thing just gave up at 4000rpm! Cue oil buzzer, tim guage reading 20psi and me pootling home and stalling LOTS. Imo, not even worth the risk of leaving it in, and i'm a penniless student! hope this helps. Cheers, Jon. ziderapple 0 Posted July 31, 2007 I'll have to get one on order from the stealers.... :( £100+ I wasnt budgeting for.
boost monkey 0 Posted July 31, 2007 sucks :/ i waited ages for a pump on mine only to be given a digifant one! cue one wasted weekend of engine rebuilding. the stealers are rip merchants, but sometimes you'd only go to them for a certain item and the rest you can get away with at the factors :)

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 31, 2007 Replacing the pump is a matter of course when redoing a VR block and £100 to protect your investment is not a lot to pay imo....
