s.w.blackwell 0 Posted August 20, 2007 hello all since day one ive had a knocking noise under acceleration ,ive changed wheel bearings, had the gearbox refurbed, fitted a new passenger side driveshaft and now im fitting a drivers side drive shaft, here comes the snag, the shaft fitted to my car is an inch longer than the new one that has arrived. Can someone tell me the length of a drivers side shaft for a 1.8 16v 90 rado? Also the new one has no balancing weight, or maybe that my this indicates the old shaft being wrong. And also the inside of the drive flange (gearbox flange) has deep score marks inside as if the old shaft has worn into it (another sign of the wrong size shaft?) cheers in advance folks. trevor 0 Posted August 20, 2007 i think you have to remove the balance weight from the old and put it on the new one any way it does sound like the old one fitted is to long . .
