My rear bumper is rusting!

Recommended Posts

Cleaning the car tonight and noticed bits of rust falling off from under the rear bumper. Closer inspection revealed a metal strip riveted to it which is gradually crumbling away. Anyone know if this piece is available separately, and if so is it really worth replacing as I assume its only there to add strength to the plastic?

I only noticed it as I was under one one day looking to work out why the bumper was misshapen.

How're you Dave?? Was only thinking of you today.

Use this stuff here but the metal needs to be shot blasted first, will give 20 years worth of rust free use without any paint on top with only 20 microns of the stuff.

Zinga

More stuff on how it works etc here

I will be using this on any bits that normally go rusty when I change them now, rear beams, brake disc backing sheilds, rad support panels etc etc.

Was under the car yesterday and also noticed this panel on mine almost gone  so just to confirm its just a 'backing' for the rear bumper nothing more?
