Fabrication and installation of my exhaust system for my cor

I ordered some Magnaflow parts from the local tuner shop at costs and will be receiving them shortly. This tells me it is time to pick up the argon tank or I will be doing nothing next weekend. LOL!!!

 

Garage is still crammed full of crap and didn;t have time to make a carriage for my TIG so I guess the snap creeper is multitasking it now.

Never trusting anyone beside myself working on my cars and having gone through formal training mechanics since 1996. I purchased a TIG welder to do my custom exhaust and intake for my rado. Getting a local speedshop to do something custom as this will run you atleast 1000.00 or more. But since I have contacts in the industry all the parts costs me less than 500.00 for a real stainless custom exhaust system.

 

so here is the exhaust part.

 

I purchase a box of stainless steel Vibrant flanges to make my custom exhaust as user friendly as possible.

Since I'm using Eurosport ceramic race headers there is no provision for a catalytic convertor but incase i do get stopped by the cops I can remove one of the resontaors and put in a magnaflow catalytic convertor. As you can see I'm ging with a dual magnaflow resonator setup as I don;t want my rado to be too loud. Being too loud attracts police and ricers that want to race you.

 

It is very straight forward TIG welding the flanges to the resonators. I will stop by the local hardware shop to pick up stainless bolts, washer, split washers, and nuts.

but when you start to calculate and add all costs of the parts it really goes up.

those flanges are really expensive even for cost. I got 8 flanges @ 20.34 plus tax each.

Notice the tail pipe is larger then the recess in the bumper. Are you modifying it at all or leaving it as it is?

yes the sebring outlet is oval and wider than the recess in the bumper.

this will be taken care when it gets painted and bodywork done.

In order to get something done they way you want you got to do it yourself.

 

I designed my exhaust system so that it can be removed easily in sections. Each resonator has its own flanges so it can bolt and unbolt easily even on jack stands. I'm going to be fabricating a test pipe with flanges to replace both resonators when going to the track and a free flow catalytic converter with flanges to replace one of the resonators to pass emissions and keep the exhaust note on a more tame side. :clap:

 

Going with a off the shelf exhaust you are limited to what is available on the market. :salute:

After getting the "a la moi" custom made exhaust on my corrado and firing her up a number of times now.

 

Eurosport ceramic race headers, two magnaflow stainless steel cannister resonators and sebring muffler connected with stainless mandrel bent piping.

 

I find that it is on the rather loud side while idling. So maybe need a catalytic convertor. It is idling over 1100 rpms so is this normal with a SNS stage 5.5 chip? I feel it i can get it to idle at 800 rpm it would be atleast 20% less loud.
