chelsearob 0 Posted August 26, 2007 Whilst driving, my engine started to develop a very strange rattling sound - almost like a diesel engine. After taking it to my nearest VW specialist they advised me that a main bearing shell had disintergrated and that the crankshaft had been damaged and that I probably need a new engine. Could someone please tell me if this is likely to be the case? Or is it because it is more cost effective to replace the engine than to repair it? If so, has anyone got or knows where I can get a 2.9 VR6 ABV engine for a 1995 Corrado?
dr_mat 0 Posted August 26, 2007 It's possible ... And it's definitely more cost effective to replace rather than repair. Have a look around the forum. Last time I looked there were a couple of complete VR6 engines for sale for just a few hundred quid. Find a decent VW specialist who can fit it for you and away you go.
