oil temp not reading

Recommended Posts

i did try a search but it was fruitless...

Basically on my little on board computer thingy everything works apart from the oil temp reading??

can anyone point me in the right direction with what to look at,or even better an old thread detailing this problem.

As mine just shows the image of "- - -"

sorry if this is a common question

The oil temp wont start reading until 50 degrees C but if your water is up to temp and you still have no reading from the oil temp gauge then either the wire has come off the sensor or the sensor is broken.

IIRC the sensor sits on top of the oil filter housing on the VR. *Edit* Yup, it does sit on top of the oil fiter housing, single pin closest one to the block. (The other 2 are the oil pressure ones)

Yup, connector may just need cleaning and brightening up...

check carefully tho for leaks becuase when the start to go you can loose alot of oil in a short period of time!!
