ebby 0 Posted October 4, 2007 Out of interest what's peoples general views on buying a car which comes up as having a Cat D insurance write off? Not too clued up on this may affect the car in terms of getting insurance, resale value etc etc.. Any info is appreciated. Thanks
lauraJ 0 Posted October 4, 2007 On a insurance point of view, it's not going to cause a problem getting insurance. As long as you have an independent engineers report stating that the car is in a roadworthy state and the repairs are to a satisfactory standard. Well thats what we accept at the insurance company I work for, which is part of RBS insurance. Not too sure how I'd feel driving a Cat C or D write off though. M15 VW 0 Posted October 5, 2007 As long as the damaged has been repaored properly then I dont see it as a problem. Mine was a cat d when I bought it.
ebby 0 Posted October 5, 2007 ok cheers guys. i suppose if you're with the car for the long haul and not too worried about saleability in the future it could be a good investment, assuming the repair work was carried out to a high standard.
