Yellow temp sender for vr6

Recommended Posts

Maybe whip the fan control unit off and see if anything is rattling around inside it.

Not close enough for popping round to fiddle around with it. Sadly.

Afternoon. It would appear that the temp sender for my temperature gauge is playing up on my vr and I would like to replace it. It's got a yellow ring on it on the car and 4 pins. I've phoned the local dealer, and they only show a blue/black 4 pin sender for the car. Is this the right one? Have they changed the colour scheme recently?

I believe it controls the gauge and the after run on circuit, if this helps.

Alternatively, has anyone got a part number for this bit?

Thanks

Tom.

There are 3 temperature senders in the thermostat housing. Looking from left to right:

Yellow, 4-pin plug. VAG part number 701 919 369 D, O-ring N 903 168 02

Coolant gauge, fan control unit and aux water pump (always there)

Switches on: 101-107 C (214-225 F)

Switches off: 94-100 C (201-212 F)

Blue, 2-pin plug. VAG part number 025 906 041 A, O-ring N 903 168 02

ECU (always there)

Black or brown

Black, 2-pin plug. VAG part number 357 919 369 F, O-ring N 903 168 02

For a late-spec 3 stage fan control or auto transmission. Switches on at around 112 C

Brown, 4-pin plug. VAG part number 357 919 369 E, O-ring N 903 168 02

Only if you have AC. It is a 3-stage sender - VAG part number 357 919 369 E
