wozza 0 Posted November 1, 2007 Hi All, I am having some heating problems with my corrado. Its a 1991 1.8 16v. I have replaced the thermistat and coolant and last year the previous owner had the non return heat valve replaced. But I still have no heat in the car which leads me to believe it is the heater matrix. Could any one tell me if they have had similar problems and if the matrix needs replacing what work involved? Yandards 0 Posted November 1, 2007 Check that the heater selection cable is moving the leaver on the heater box, you can see the cable by taking out the passenger side lower dash shelf, its the blue one. After that unless the car smells slightly mouldy and you find that the windscreen/interior is always misted up then it is still not likely to be the heater matrix. Check to make sure the heater matrix has not been bypassed, engine bay bulkhead in the middle but slightly off to the right there will be two hoses coming out of the bulkhead, these should lead into the non-return heat valve and then onto the side of the block and the metal coolant pipe. If they dont then your heater system is bypassed. I would first of all check the heat non-return valve, its easier than a matrix change and you need to confirm this is working ok. Take it out and you should be able to see past the brass disc, or at least see light through it. Poke a screwdriver through the smallest outlet and you should be able to move the brass disc and it should return so that you can see through it again. If not or it is really stiff then it will need changing, otherwise give the pipes a squeeze to make sure they are all not blocked and if that is all ok then it is likely to be the matrix.
