Thom 1 Posted November 30, 2007 Hi all, still got a a slight oil leak, had engine cleaned and can now see that oil is seeping from the bottom of the engine, however I don't know exactly where, any ideas what the most common explanation is?
Supercharged 2 Posted November 30, 2007 Sump gasket or oil filter housing to block maybe...
16VG60 1 Posted December 2, 2007 A common cause of oil loss in the area indicated by your picture is the oil pressure sensors, mounted on the top of the filter mount, leaking through the lucar electrical connector at the top of each sensor. Clearly you will need to check all the other oil related joints and gaskets as a process of elimination ie oil filter, filter mount. oil cooler, sump gasket etc. It helps to thoroughly clean the area, dry it off and then observe whilst engine running for the leak. Not the most excuiiting diagnostic process but it usually yields a result.
