Blaklabel313 0 Posted December 13, 2007 some bits of grit somehow got into my inlet and ended up in the engine scoring the edges of the pistons and cylinders and causing three of them to lose all compression. what a good day that was!! yes i mean throttle bodies, just used to calling them carbs, sorry. i want to do something a little different to the norm and i had an old escort with webers on and really enjoyed the noise and look and the difference in the type response you got from it all. CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted December 13, 2007 ah right! Dont know which will be more work/money...cheaper just fitting a second hand engine than fitting a used/rebuilt engine then modding it to carbs ect.. but E38 is the best place for this mate. http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.p ... tle+bodies
Blaklabel313 0 Posted December 13, 2007 i looked into the rebore etc or new engine and ive managed to pick up an engine to match mine for 450 which is much cheaper than the rebore option and means i can take my time fixing up the old engine with bigger pistons etc when the money is more readily available. im still deffinately going to be putting carbs on this new engine though, and after looking through that link you gave me bike carbs are the option because i can run my ecu with them. cheers for the help thats great!!!
