Clutch Master Cyl Differences?

Recommended Posts

Hi, does anyone know the difference between the early and late (93 on) Clutch Master Cylinders??

Most (but not all) of the later cars i've driven have a light clutch so wonder if the Late cyl is a different size for some reason...

The later one if more 'stubby' compared to the early but looks like it would be a direct replacement - just can't find any tech specs on it...

Hi Steve cant comment on the differences personally as ive got a late stubby one. Worth noting that you will need to change at least the metal hard line, and possibly the flexi to the clutch if you swap. VW do not sell a pre-made pipe for the late cylinder, the pipe listed in ETKA is designed for the larger cylinder only.

Cheers

Ross

Nope, the two are not interchangeable - the fitment on the pedal is different also, tho you can change the pedal if you so wish. Also, the lines will interchange between the two types of cylinder
