tony1965 0 Posted January 3, 2008 Hi, im new here only just bought a corrado but its having a few problems and i was just wondering could anybody help me out here. My problem is its not starting i was told it was the key chip by the breakdown recovery man but i've also been told it could be either my fuse box or my fuel pump so if anybody could help me out that would be great thanks. VR6 0 Posted January 3, 2008 Depends what you mean by not starting. Can you give some more precise details? Does it turn over? Can you hear the fuel pump priming? What car is it? Alarm? etc etc etc
tony1965 0 Posted January 3, 2008 Depends what you mean by not starting. Can you give some more precise details? Does it turn over? Can you hear the fuel pump priming? What car is it? Alarm? etc etc etc its K REG 2.0 16V it dose turn over but you cant hear the fuel pump priming. I had the the fuse box tested the fuse for the fuel pump didn't light up and when they bypassed it the fuel pump still wasn't priming. its alarmed and immobilesed.Hope this helps. PS. i dont no very much about engines
Supercharged 2 Posted January 3, 2008 Hmm, what the breakdown guy said seems a bit vague as you don't have a factory imob as far as i know (not on a K plate) but may have aftermarket (any fuses near the battery?) Good place to start would be to buy new ignition switch, Fuel pump and ECU relays
CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted January 3, 2008 I would blame the alarm, alarms usually cut the feed to the fuel pump or/and ignition. Best test for a feed to the pump,by removing the three screws that hold the plate to the boot floor inside, there will be four wires, pick out the two thickest wires this will be the live and earth for the pump, rig up a 12volt test lamp to the thickest wires by disconnecting the plug and inserting the wires into the terminals and switch the ignition on(note that the pumps relay will run for a few seconds until the car starts) so keep testing by turning the key on and off. If there is no feed and your mechanical and electrical knowledge is limited I would get a specialist in to repair it mate.
