iant 0 Posted January 16, 2008 Had my 92 J 16v Corrado a year now and concerned its overheating. Temp guage reads 110 degrees when idle. Fan does come on and cools it to 95 - 100. When on a journey and constant running guage can read anything between 90 - 110 depending on time of year and speeds (airflow). Recently had new thermostat fitted, head gasket gas test, new rad expansion cap and system flushed with new coolant but still it approaches 110. Car has had an after market air con fitted from new by first owner. Also timing and mixture has been checked. Any Ideas?
Walesy 0 Posted January 17, 2008 Hi mate, Is the fan coming on before it gets to 110deg? there's 2 stages on the fan, stage 1 should be on by 110deg. It could be that the rad fan switch is naffed?
nocrap 0 Posted January 17, 2008 Always try the cheap things 1st, change the sensor in the side of the head. you used to be able to get them cheap from http://www.vwspares.co.uk, but i haven't been able to find them...
