LUK Release Bearings - 2 Difefrent designs???

Recommended Posts

The bearings are made by the same manufacturer (LUK) and fit the same car (16V/G60 etc), yet they look and work very differently. Both are brand new

From the pics:

The one on the left is an almost exact copy of the OEM part, and came with a clutch kit

The one on the lefts bearing face is the shiney centre section (bottom pic)

The one on the rights bearing face is the whole outer grey casing (bottom pic)

The one on the rights bearing face has a lot of play in it (bottom pic)

Any thoughts or previous experience welcome.

Instincts do tell me just to get an OEM one from VAG though.

OEM ones are SACHS I think - I have one in the garage if you want me to take a look but won't be able to until weekend now...

Thanks for your reply.

The one on the left is identical to the VW one, exept the VW one has ve etched onto the face LOL

Just going to grab one from the stealers after work. Showed the one on the right to a mate (mechanic) he agreed that it won't last long at all and built to nowhere near the same tolerance as the one on the left.
