Clicking when starting and other various electrical problems

Recommended Posts

We pulled apart my fogs to try to get those working. Well, I put everything back together today, and now my stereo won't turn off, even with the button on it or the ignition on the car, and when I go to start it all that I get is a clicking noise when it should be turning over. I checked my battery and it's showing a good 12.53v.

I need my car in the next few hours, so any answers are much appreciated...

Bit of an odd problem you have there.

Who wired the stereo into your car?

Sounds as if it's been wired into a permanent live...possibley into your lighting circuit.

Check that it is wired in as follows:-

blue/white = Speed sensor feed

brown/red = Ignition live

black = +12v to aerial amplifier (switched feed from head unit)

grey/blue = illumination feed (to turn on head unit illumination when the lights are switched on)

red/white = permanent live

brown = earth

Another possible cause could be a faulty ignition switch

Sounds like the healthy 12.5v at the battery isn't making it to the starter motor. Does it still show 12.5 while you're turning it over (or trying to)?
