davej 0 Posted March 27, 2008 after a long country drive the other day, my corrado suddenly started to make a unhealthy noise. at first there was a clunking/knocking seemingly from behind the engine block, sort of round the manifold area. then there was a metallic grating sound. neither is horrendous, and the car still drives fine, but i can now feel a slight knocking through the pedals, and its definitely not sounding as healthy as it usually does. i recently changed the mounts, and i haven't been able to torque up the main front mount bolt to the engine, as the nuts i have strip as soon as i tighten them past about 30 Nm. the other mounts seem fine and fairly secure, though the engine does also now move back and forth a lot more than it did. anyone got any suggestions before i take it to the garage and spend a fortune on it? any ideas about better/stronger nuts to tighten up to the full torque too?
