PROVR6 0 Posted March 30, 2008 Hi guys. My battery keeps going flat after a week of no driving. I charge it up and it starts. Ive tried a solar trickle charger on it once fully charged and it still goes dead. I know the corrado draws a lot of battery power, but I charged the battery fully and disconnected the positive terminal. I reconnected it today after a week and it was dead. Do you think I need a new battery. Id like to disconnect the battery when the car is not in use and just reconnect it when I want to go for a drive. Will the new battery go flat when not in use if disconnected?

A battery that goes flat when it's not connected is probably faulty. You can get it checked for free at most battery sales places, they use a big wire that measures voltage and current drop under load. And I'm assuming that when you say you "charged the battery fully" I guess you mean you had the battery off the car and left it overnight. If you just mean "went for a drive" that's something different..!
Supercharged 2 Posted March 30, 2008 Go to Halfords as they use a Bosch tester that will test the car also.
PROVR6 0 Posted March 30, 2008 Thanks Guys, Sounds like a new battery then. Dr mat: Yes,I charged the car for 24hrs but left the battery in place as Ive got the type of charger where you don't have to remove the terminals. Ill get halfords to check it, but sounds like its had its day.
