.A.N.T. 0 Posted April 2, 2008 Tomorrow I'm supposed to be driving to North Wales (from Surrey) to go riding up there. Problem is, I have just checked my water level and there's a small amount of oil in there. Engine runs fine, there's no steam from the exhaust and I've just checked the plugs and they seem normal. It's not losing any water, just gaining some oil! Is there a way to rule out the head gasket and point it towards the oil cooler? Is it wise to drive 600 miles in the next week based on the above information...? It's a 2l 16v btw. Timing from the C is once again, impeccable... Water was fine a week ago when I did an oil change... :mad2: Cheers!
Rustynuts 0 Posted April 2, 2008 I would not drive it, the oil cooler will steadily get worse and pump all your oil into the water system.
ben16v 0 Posted April 2, 2008 defo dont drive i`ve had both and it wont take long to fully condense, leaving you with no oil or coolant either way not good!
.A.N.T. 0 Posted April 8, 2008 Got a lift up in the end... Meant I could sleep on the way!! replacing the oil cooler this week, so hopefully that will solve it. If not then it's a new head gasket... :mad2: Cheers for the advice...
