Rocket Ron 1 Posted May 6, 2008 Hi Just had my 1994 VR Serviced and been told that my top mounts are worn and need changing because its an MOT failure. What OEM parts numbers do I need to change. Also where can I get the special tool for the top nut or what else can I use instead.
colinstubbs 0 Posted May 6, 2008 Don't know about the mount numbers, but in the past with a mates help I've used a socket extension + allen key bit, through a socket for the big nut, while holding the socket with a big pair of molegrips. 8) Craftsman's tools   Improvise, Adapt, Overcome! craigowl 0 Posted May 7, 2008 Had this done to VR6 in August last. top mount 357412331A top mount bearing 1J0412249 You need 2 of each cost about £36 including VAT and with 10% discount. Labour at local garage (about £41/hour) - £123.38 incl VAT Had "top mounts loose" for a couple of years on MOT advisory, but they never failed car on it. IIRC some on here say this looseness is common and not a serious problem. I did not notice any difference in driving car before and after - good either way!
