Sloppy Handling and a rough 2nd gear!

Hi all, just a quick few questions, first my car has been diagnosed with knackered rear axle bushes, does anyone know the best place in the West Midlands area to get these repaired (so far I've had quotes ranging from £215 - £350) these are just from small garages and I want someone who knows what there doing, secondly, the car changes from first to second easily when been driven normally, but under harsh accelaration, it crunchs quite badly , is this just a badly worn linkage or has the syncromesh gone??

i have a crunching 2nd gear too i think its the gearbox syncro but would love to hear if it is a selector problem

If it only crunches gears on harsh acceleration could it not be an engine mount problem??

Thanks for the info, I'll get on the case and see what comes back, I'll keep you posted on what it needs doing.
