Critical_Mass 10 Posted June 11, 2008 Wanting to give this a go too. You can do it yourself if you can hold a spanner. All engine plastics, pipes off, leads and plugs. Take throttle body off and ISV - May have missed something off that list. Shouldnt take more than an hour.
Taggart 0 Posted June 11, 2008 The only pain is the bolts at the bottom of the lower manifold, they're a bugger to get to when you've got fat hands like me!

Taggart 0 Posted June 11, 2008 Nah, best attacking it from top. It's easy to do, just a bit fiddly.

diggerbucket 0 Posted June 11, 2008 Doesn't take long at all, couple of hours for your first time maybe. And yeah those bolts are a pain!
TimDoc 0 Posted June 12, 2008 make sure u get some new gaskets, as the older ones tend to come off in pieces! £14 for the set from VW main dealer, also when doing ya polishing/grinding, make sure you seal up all the holes in the inlet manifold or you will have to wash all the stuff out from the inside. KADVR6 0 Posted June 13, 2008 when i had to take mine of for the red-tops, i just undid the front engine mount, then jacked up the engine it made it sooo much easier to get to the bolts.
