Timbo 0 Posted June 16, 2008 Bentley seems to (fairly vehemently) advise against using DOT 5 brake fluid, but I see a fair few references to folk using it on the forum. What's the deal?
Taggart 0 Posted June 16, 2008 You CANNOT use DOT5 You CAN use DOT5.1. IIRC DOT5 will corrode your lines. DOT5.1 is the upgrade from DOT4 and is safe to use (it's what I used when I upgraded to TT brakes.)
Timbo 0 Posted June 16, 2008 Ah OK, that makes sense. Cheers.
dinkus 10 Posted June 16, 2008 Just to confirm what xbones says - DOT 5.1 is perfectly fine to use. Don't think you can even buy the older DOT 5 any more.
Joe M 0 Posted June 16, 2008 You should still be able to get dot 5 as it is a different type of fluid (silicone based) and there are other types of brakes that are designed to run on it but not 5.1 Though, for the Corrado, 5.1 all the way.
