Recommended Posts

hey guys - well i finally got one, so if i ask any stupid q's then please bear with me... lol

i got a 1990 16v 1800 - absolutly love it!!

but i noticed the other day that a little red led keeps flashing at me from the temp gauge???

is this telling me off for driving on a cold engine... or is it something more serious.. and i've bought a lemon... lol

please be honest... i can take the stick if its needed!!!

(i didn't get a user manual/handbook with it... so don't know what things do!!!! - if ya know whgere i can get one that would be great too!!)

cheers,

rob.

That's not the oil light (there isn't one, not that flashes anyways) that's the coolant light. It should flash for a few seconds when you turn the ignition on just to tell you the sensor is working, but should definitely go off after that.

I think the sensor is the one on the coolant expansion tank at the back on the right of the engine bay. Is your coolant level low?

The oil light you REALLY don't wanna see is a little blue one along the bottom of the dashboard as that means your oil pressure is low and your engine is about to die. Not great. But you'll get a handy buzzer warning about that at the same time.
