craigowl 0 Posted September 29, 2008 Our eldest sold his Jag XKR (with great difficulty!) and has now got a silver BMW Z3, 3 litre convertible. 2001, 40K miles and about £8k. Not what I call trading down to save money! Anyway, I had not really liked the looks/image of this car before - it always reminded me of lady solicitors cruising about the cobbled streets of Glasgow and Edinburgh's city centres. :camp: Funny thing is, having seen it close up and been for a run in it I have changed my view. Looks good when standing right beside it and beautifully engineered with functional rather than flash controls, etc. It would be interesting to hear from you guys who are familiar with this car. Kevin Bacon 5 Posted September 29, 2008 How's the scuttle shake and axle tramp? :D Nah they're OK really, for what they are. They didn't get a good press due to the sloppy handling, ancient E30 rear under pinnings, dead steering feel and the afore mentioned scuttle shake. My mate had one back in 2000 from new and at the time I had a ropey old MK2 Golf, so his Z3 was incredibly smooth and quick in comparison. As with most BMW 6 pots, they really do make or break the car. 4 pot bimmers just aren't the same! Aside from the usual roof sealing issues, there's no really bad things about the car.
