ABS system and pressure?

Recommended Posts

just looking through a book and it says that if you open the ABS system a jet could shoot out that can maim or kill!!!!

is it really that bad? it mentions a procedure about disconnecting battery and pumping the brake pedal 20 times?

is this is the case its probably quite lucky that the nut i was trying to undone was seized

anyone shed any light on this? anyone encountered the deadly jet of rado fluid?

Blimey, that sounds a bit frightening. I guess its the same as Common Rail Diesels, some of these run insane fule pressure that could cut through stone if fired in a sustained jet.

There's lots and lots of PSI in the ABS pump unit, you really don't wanna mess with it unless you've depressurised the system properly. It would be much like being hit by a pressure washer jet, so yes it could be pretty painful.

the book says up to 3000psi :!

so disconnecting the battery and pumping the pedal is a good idea before i undo anything?

is that all i need to do or do you have to remove anything else? ecu related?

my friend said he's done loads of brakes and never encountered this before
