Andy665 0 Posted October 4, 2008 Considering a deal on a 1999 Golf 1.8T, lovely condition but has done 137k. High mileage doesn't really concern me - condition is more important but I'd there anything I should look for specifically, car has a full service history and has recently had suspension overhauled and coilovers fitted. nemesis360 0 Posted October 4, 2008 I get alot of 1.8t's in at work with blocked oil pump strainers, mainly on higher mileage cars they get alot of oil sludge which dries and blocks the strainer. have a look through the service history and see if its had a few flush treatments in its time and have a look through the oil filler neck for lots of dried oil. But dont let it put you off if it seems a good car you can always stick a flush through it yourself :) and they are good cars with not many problems Hope this helps
