'hanging' revs

Recommended Posts

The 'rado seems to be holding onto its revs alittle too much at gearchange, taking a while longer than im used to to drop back down.

its had a cambelt and the timing is right, so should i be looking @ TPS?

i'm new to k-jets so after any pointers.

Thanks

Matt

Revs: Mine does this sometimes but sorts itself out after a blast. Check all your vac pipes, does it idle right at 900rpm?

Spoiler: Most likely problem is the actual switch in the dash.

I don't think you can get the switch from anywhere other than people breaking Rados.

Nick

The throttle problem will be a sticky throttle cable, get a new one from VW :-) as for the mirros problem it will be the switch in the door, I thought there was a guide on how to fix these but I couldnt see it in the Knowledge Base Wiki, obviously I havent got round to writting it up yet lol

Be very carefull when you take the switch apart as there are a few very small bits that can and will go flying off never to be seen again if your not carefull! Do it indoors over a bit of white paper! and once you have it apart, clean the copper swicth connections with a bit of emery cloth or abrasive block they will be manky and green because of at least 15 years of water ingress due to the switch's location and the fact it gets covered in water if you open the window after its been raining! :-(
