Son_of_Thor 0 Posted November 10, 2008 Hi folks, Dropped the oil/filter at the wknd and also the coolant and then replaced like for like. Since then, there's been a lot of vibration below 3k and hardly any power at all - she isn't revving very freely either... Anyone any ideas? Cheers Si
steve @ 0 Posted November 10, 2008 I know this might sound like a silly question but have you made sure the oils not overfilled?
Son_of_Thor 0 Posted November 10, 2008 Hi, Cheers for the reply - I've checked that and the oil level is fine.... Si
dr_mat 0 Posted November 10, 2008 What sort of oil did you put in .. ?
Son_of_Thor 0 Posted November 10, 2008 Standard 10w40 semi-synthetic - same stuff she always has and I've never had any issues before. Some-one has mentioned to me that it could be be exhaust related?
dr_mat 0 Posted November 10, 2008 Because you changed the oil? It's not even the same side of the engine as the exhaust, so that seems unlikely to me. More likely you knocked one of the engine's temperature sensors when you were down there, I'd say.
Reggit 0 Posted November 10, 2008 I'd say one of the sensor wires has come adrift as well. Also check your plugs/leads haven't had oil accidently spilled on them and causing a misfire.
Son_of_Thor 0 Posted November 10, 2008 Already checked the leads, but I'll have a look at the plugs tonight and have a look at the wiring in case there's owt obvious Cheers guys!
Philmo 0 Posted November 10, 2008 I had similar problem recently - oiled up MAF. Took out the sensor blasted it with meths, gently cleaned it up with a cotton bud. Cleaned up the K&N with proper stuff and [lightly] re-oiled it again with proper stuff. Now runs better than she ever did. :D
