joeshenton 0 Posted November 11, 2008 Hi all, another little issue with my little vr6 - i think one of my front wheel bearings is broke - i get a squealing and a general background wheel bearing noise. I am going to get a garage to do the work i think - i'd have to get it pressed in anyway i guess? but i need the part numbers for the wheel bearings kits i need to order? does anyone have etka or know the number i need? Cheers.
Leonard 0 Posted November 11, 2008 I would get the garage to purchase it. That way you are covered if they fit it wrongly.....
joeshenton 0 Posted November 11, 2008 yeah but they also charge markup and i can get the bearings free through work...
Leonard 0 Posted November 11, 2008 Yes but then if they fit it wrongly they can avoid liability. They are only £20 max probably more like £12.
Supercharged 2 Posted November 11, 2008 1H0498625 is the repair kit £35+vat retail, £22 + vat trade from VAG and comes with all the nuts / bolts / grease to do the job
Jim 2 Posted November 11, 2008 I would get the garage to purchase it. That way you are covered if they fit it wrongly..... Garages tend to buy cheapo parts rather than genuine VAG. And if the pattern wheel bearings I had fitted were anything to go by, he'll be getting em done again next year... definately worth getting the genuine VW items. If it's a wheel bearing get the garage to diognose which side even if you know.... VW diagnosed the wrong side on mine.... I made then do the otherside FOC.... the front strut will need to be removed to press the bearing in.
