PeteL 0 Posted December 12, 2008 Guys This week the C (VR6 Auto) has started creaking occasionally at low speeds (under 10mph). It happens going forward and reverse and whilst turning or going straight, but not every time (basically when im pulling away or parking). The noise isn't constant and it varies in volume. I have done a search and others have suggested it could be: Clutch (not really applicable to me!) Driveshaft/CV joints Subframe needs tightening. The cold weather! Just needs a bit of lubrication! You're worrying for nothing they all do that! I know this is pretty vague, but is there anything else it may be before I get it checked out. Much appreciated. kwala 0 Posted December 12, 2008 Mine makes a creaking noise when i pull away too, mine is the poly bushes i had fitted. Has it had new bushes?
G60SC_Stoney 0 Posted December 12, 2008 so does mine, im putting it down to crap wishbone bushes, i made the mistake of buying them already pressed into new wishbones from vwspares.com or wherever it was and they like to make rubbery creaking noises when the wishbones move around at low speeds and when pulling off. ill get round to fitting decent VAG ones sometime in the near future! PeteL 0 Posted December 13, 2008 i think it has had new wishbone bushes but that was earlier this year. It does need wheel bearing done soonish...is this a likely cause?
G60SC_Stoney 0 Posted December 13, 2008 no i dont think its wheel bearings, thats if it is the same sound as mine, which it sounds like.
Supercharged 2 Posted December 13, 2008 As it's an Auto it could just be the brakes binding slightly in the cold weather, could especially be the rears if still running the original caliper setup.
G60SC_Stoney 0 Posted December 13, 2008 mine personally sounds like heavy duty rubber being squashed/pulled/twisted....
