dont really know if it is the water pump??

had a look on the wiki, cant find anything!!!

guessing what i will need is fluid, rack, anything else??

will see if my mate will do it with me, save a bit of cost!!

is it a case of just dropping the rack and replacing, or do you need to drop part of the engine??

cheers for your help though!!!

appreciate it!!

ideally you want an engine support beam or crane as you need to drop the subframe somewhat so you can get the rack out/in and both rear engine mountings are in the subframe, I've done the job before but only on a garage lift and although I'm sure it's do-able on a drive or garage floor with the engine in the car, it's not going to be the most fun job.

not the answer i wanted to hear, lol

but apreciate the help, hmmm,

how long can i wait before needing this done, is it reasonable to have the other work done and wait for the rack 2 be done??

depends what's wrong with the rack, is the problem properly diagnosed? Does it leak PAS fluid? If so, where from? - a number of things can be related to the rack but not actually be the rack, like a worn steering column UJ, or steering height adjuster joint, an inner track rod joint or one of the rigid fluid lines bolted across the rack.

If the rack assists more one way than the other or has leaked fluid into the steering rack boots then it's likely that an inner seal has gone which can be bought as a repair kit from VW.

hi, sorry, had a busy night at work last night,

the problem isnt properly diagnosed as yet, its going in to the garage on monday,

the guy whos doing it did a lot to my mini, so i do trust him!!

he said hes gonna see which rack mine has, and go from there!!

not sure whether it is the rack or small factors adding up, but im really not wanting to have to get rid of this car for no money at all!

i dont think it is leaking any pas fluid, but it whine alot, not sure if they always do that??

the fluid is full in the bottle anyway!!

the wheel does sit down to the left when driving??

i'll let ya know when i get it back!!!

ta for the help!
