xxiamdrewxx 0 Posted January 14, 2009 Hi I was looking at a project basically a shell g60 with no engine or tranny but in respectable condition and a very fare price I really want to throw a vr6 engine into and I was hoping to get some input on what needs to be done to do this I'm aware that engine mounts wire harness and drive train(along with converting over to 5 lug rims and probably switching out calipers) are an issue but I've been searching for a walk through to see if someone has done it and i cannot seem to find one any input would be greatly appreciated

KipVR 1 Posted January 14, 2009 There is a storm up for sale here for 2.5k, You will find it hard to find a G60, a decent 2.9VR6 engine and gearbox and all the extra bits you require and fit it all for that much, and it wouldn't be worth much at the end of it either. Sorry to sound defeatist but the maths don't work.
xxiamdrewxx 0 Posted January 14, 2009 hmmm well the car is practically free the guy is trying to literally get rid of it its like 100 bucks plus id have to pick it up but what about the 1.8t conversion is that one any better only reason I'm even considering this is the car isn't a pos its actually in very nice condition
KipVR 1 Posted January 14, 2009 A 1.8T is a totally diffeent beastie, you have just the right donor to do that conversion, and the motors are getting cheaper by the day, as there are tons of them in various different guises.
xxiamdrewxx 0 Posted January 15, 2009 would you happen to know a good walk through I could take a look at and do you have any suggestions regarding this particular build?
xxiamdrewxx 0 Posted January 15, 2009 actually also is it worth while to just put the 1.8 without the turbo cuz id rather build up the internals rather than spend the money on the turbo cuz id rather run a better turbo and inter cooler set up later than run stock but kinda of on a budget trying to keep it around 4k usd
