max 0 Posted February 20, 2009 are there any lowering springs available which are worth using on standard shocks. and if so how much of a drop would be realistic using just springs to lower the car. i am looking for a drop somewhere between 40-60mm. any info greatfully recived, thanks. lj16v 0 Posted March 2, 2009 Short answer is probably NO! Get springs and shocks as a kit, otherwise spring/damping rates will likely be mismatched and it will feel/ride like cr@p! There are plenty of cheepo kits out there, check out venom's website to get an idea. The more you spend the better but cheep kits are ok as a temporary measure, there are now some really cheep coilovers out there now which will do the job but don't think they will last for ever!! However, you can get some springs designed for use with stock dampers, H&Rs for 4 cylinder cars (blue coloured ones) are in fact intended for use with stock dampers which is why the ride is not a patch on the H&R + Koni TA combo you get on the VR6 (although you can use the VR6 springs on a 16v with no dramas at all) So the answer is yes you can although double check with the original spring manufacturer first as a lot of suppliers don't state the correct application. ..and locked :) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
