brian g60 corrado 0 Posted December 20, 2003 thinking of fitting a one way valve or check valve to isv to prevent boost leak and was wondering which way to fit direction of flowas you look at engine. was possibly looking to use a black plastic one way heater valve from heatermatrix recall valve kit sourced from a scrappy or if anyone on here has a spare one please let me know cheers all. also is this the same as an isv rerout kit
G60Jet 1 Posted December 20, 2003 unless you have a leaky ISV dont bother
brian g60 corrado 0 Posted December 23, 2003 but i have heared that idle is better, and generally the engine runs smoother. is this wright or wrong.as my g60 can be all over the place on start up from cold. anyone out there fitted one and do they work in anyway.cheers. :? G60Jet 1 Posted December 23, 2003 Unless your ISV is leaking they make little difference, i've got one!!
W3RKD 0 Posted December 23, 2003 u can actually adjust the isv too .. but you need to be careful when doing so . there is a small allen bolt in the very end.
brian g60 corrado 0 Posted December 23, 2003 ok so one way valves not recommended. darren adjusting the isv what does it do,does it adjust idle or high boost lose?
W3RKD 0 Posted December 24, 2003 brian where abouts are you located ? if you wanna pop down i would be happy to give your car a once over for you....
G60Jet 1 Posted December 24, 2003 its a valve that vents to stabilise the idle from what i understand. you normally fit a check valve if the ISV is leaking under boost. the check valve closes and presvents boost lose where the isv leaks air back into the boost return pipe. my check valve is just a ball bearing in a metal tube. in theory if the ISV leaks is pushed the bearing against the end cap of the tube sealing it thus stoping the boost leak. then as the boost come off the bearing is allowed to move away from the end cap allowing the ISV to do its job The only reason i have one i cos i thought my ISV was leaking
