Moody speedo

Recommended Posts

Have a 1995 2.0l 16v, speedo doesnt work. We've changed the sender, made sure the wiring was plugged in. How common is it for a speedo unit itself to fail? The rev counter, fuel/temp guage etc works fine. Anyone got any ideas?

Smacked the top of the binnacle with the heel of your hand?

Yeah I know sounds :cuckoo: but these things sometimes just need "appropriate" force!

Had a quick look, put it on axle stands and drove, the senders sending its signal, we found the wire on the block at the back of the clocks and getting the same reading there as from the sender.

So really the speedo unit itself needs to be replaced?

If it helps I’ll be breaking a set of VR6 clocks soon, I just need the temp / fuel gauge. Mine requires a little persuasion to work every now and again.

Changed the clocks and its the same, everything works except the speedo.

We seem to be getting the signal at the back of the clocks as well.

Anyone got any ideas?
