16VG60 1 Posted December 22, 2003 The only cure for the paintwork on your door handles is to have them re-sprayed. As regards carbon fibre parts you might like to get in touch with Richard Tweedle of All Smiles, Richard is a specialist supplier of carbon fibre components and may well be able to help you. Contact Richard on 07970 422554.
stoph-16v 0 Posted December 22, 2003 My drivers side handle went about 4 weeks ago! I went to get in my car (via the passenger side) this morning, knackered! Monday morning, having to climb into the car through the boot, not good!, not good at all!!!
Steve&Claire 0 Posted December 22, 2003 Oh dear, they're not cheap either. I have a couple of spares, but I'm keeping them just in case. 8)
stoph-16v 0 Posted December 22, 2003 Yeah, I went to the scrappers when my drivers side went, picked up a pair of front passat handles, a pair of rear passat handles, and a pair of Seat Toledo front handles (looks the same from the outside). Trouble is, I didn't realise you needed the mechanisms too! I gotta go back and get them now! Does anyone know what the form is with the toledo handles? They have a different length arm to both the C and Passat! (Why would a manufacturer make 3 different versions of compatible products!?!?) Will they fit a C with the Toledo mechs too? If so, I will buy the mechs and put them on ebay, unless there is anyone here who wants them? I am keeping the rear passat handles for a colour coded keyless conversion when I get my central locking pump sorted! Anyone wanna swap a Corrado Central Locking pump for a pair of Seat Toledo handles?
Supercharged 2 Posted December 22, 2003 Trouble is, I didn't realise you needed the mechanisms too! I gotta go back and get them now Yeah, with regards to the passat ones, make sure the midle part number matches the handle, should be 839 for the passat rears. TexasCorradoVR6 0 Posted December 24, 2003 my drivers side went this afternoon. i bought the VAG part from VW and put it on about 3 months ago. I sent my little brother through the boot  !!! its a really common problem tho, i will just keep replacing the handles through vw, as all their parts have a 1 year warranty! sadly no seat handles in the US, but i will look into the B5 handles, cheers Will
