WHERE do you find the gearbox code on an AUTO BOX?

Recommended Posts

Well, as it says really.

Selling an automatic gearbox off a VR6 on a certain auction site... we've never known what code it actually is, and can only find this on the top of it:

Where, ladies and gentlemen, do you find the "02*" code on a box like this?

We've got people asking and have no idea!

Any help appreciated!

Josh

either wwo or ba code box I'd say mate...

*BA coded boxes are listed on a lot of Air-cooled sites so I'd hazard a guess at WWO...

Dealer may be able to confirm?

its the 096 bit. The previous box was the 095. But then there are the last 3 letters like CCM or CFM, which are on the top of the box near to the dipstick iirc.

VAGCAT says:

CFB,CBY,APC, APE,CBZ,CFC, CFH,CFA,APB, CFF

Confused..... you will be :(

no if it was from a Corrado Vr6 it will definitely be an 096. The code for a post 1993 VR box is CFF.
