Spal fans - Wiring

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Whats the best way to wire these without it looking like a bodge job?

Am I right in thinking that I need to join the 3 main live's to the fan live?

cheers

How many Spals are you running?

Just join the lives together onto a peice of 20+ amp wire and then hook that onto speed 1 fan output wire. Join the earths together and screw to the chassis somewhere.

Hi Kev,

I'm running 2 9"s...

Do you know what colour the speed 1 wire is? I know I have 2 thick and 1 thin live's.. Red/Green and red/? and the thin red/white...

Cheers!

I would recommend getting a 20amp waterproof connector from RS, the fans draw a lot of current and the non waterproof type supplied on the end of the fan would soon cause problems after a few months of wet English weather....

Pretty sure it's the thick red/white one from memory. The thin one is the output for speed 2 and the red thick is the input voltage for the sensor.

Cheers, all wired up but not tested as yet!

A friend of mine who was round mentioned that I should just join all 3 wires together and join to the fan lives... He's normally very good with wiring so he has put some doubt into my mind.. :?
