DON'T LET YOUR ENEMY GET UNDER YOUR BONNET!!!

Recommended Posts

In the euphoria of a win, I Proudly showed off my g60 to losing civics and got distracted in conversation.

Drove off an hour later, and engine idle became erratic and rough, rattling noise in the glader area.

Thought i might have blown an apex strip.

When I checked on the intake in the morning, i found the brackets of the airfilter loosened. I looked inside and saw a piece of rag stuffed within. The tail end of the rag was getting sucked in and was causing the rattling noise against the blades.

No other conclusion other than that some sore loser got under the bonnet and stuffed the intake.

I am now doing a once over on the glader to see whether some pieces got in--i dread that i might have to do a complete rebuild of the s-charger or worse, the whole engine...

If your charger has been damaged you will loose some power.

If your power is okay then your charger should be okay too.

opened the g-lader:

extracted the rag. upon inspection, noticed frayed edges--some pieces may have been torn off and sucked through into the engine (shudder)

glader fins seem ok, except for scratches; apex seal strips seem intact. reassembly and vac/boost check- pressures in the 14's (am using a smaller pulley)

question: what could be the effect on the engine of the particles sucked in? am i looking at a possible engine rebuild?
