simotimo 0 Posted July 31, 2009 i have a 1991 G60. Just got back from a very long run. Halfway down the motorway the engine stated making loud whistling noise/whining noise when foot taken off accelerator. it went away when I accelerated. In idle the revs go up and down and it continues to whistle/whine. Can anyone tell me what the likely cause of this is please

simotimo 0 Posted August 3, 2009 check the idle screw hasn't come out at the back of the throttle. Many thanks for your advice It turned out that the idle screw had come out and dropped down but luckily lodged itself below the throttle, despite the long motorway drive and vibrations. So that's now back in place and my idle speed is stable and of course no noise, so I'm a happy guy. thanks again
