VR6 Rebuild

Recommended Posts

In the next month or so my Corrado will coming off the road for a little over haul. One of the main features will be an engine rebuild. Now, I know one end of a spanner from the other, and I know my way around a car, but I've never done a complete engine rebuild before. So if anyone has any useful infomation, tips and tricks or do's and dont's feel free to stick them down here :D

Wish me luck.

TIA

im sure someone will come along with help on how to actually do it and there are plenty of results from the search but the best advice i can give you is take your time, don't rush, use the right tools and don't buy cheap crappy parts.

All sound advice, thanks.

From what I've read the stardard pistons are 82mm ? Can anyone tell me what the cc would be if I was to use 82.5, 83 and 83.5mm ?

In case anyone is interested, I think this is right.

82.0mm = 2861cc

82.5mm = 2896cc

83.0mm = 2931cc

83.5mm = 2967cc

84.0mm = 3003cc

84.5mm = 3038cc

85.0mm = 3074cc

Can anyone confirm this? Is it worth it/possible to push it out to 83.5mm ? I see Wossner make 83.5mm pistons, if I have 83.5mm pistons what size do I get the bores milled out to?
