1.8T 20V Swap questions

Recommended Posts

hey guys im new to the forum but not new to VW's and in process of doing a 20v turbo swap. I have a few question maybe your able to help me out with. Its been a frustrating swap as it is.

1) Using the 02J which Gear Selector to use, Tried 02J cables to fit obviously, tried G60 02A original transmission gear selector and the shaft is too long can not engage 4th gear. I heard early MK4 may fit? I will be test fitting a early Beetle Gear selector to see if it does seems the linkage cables for the 1998-1999 beetle's were very similar to Corrado G60 / VR6.

2) Converted the following components to VR6 sub-frame, front lower cross member, control arms, tie-rods. Now i mounted the engine and i don't know which front engine mount bracket to use its obviously a VR6 Front engine mount. Is there any without heavy modification cutting / welding i can use ?

3) it is a AWP 180HP 2003 Jetta 1.8T 20v engine Left hand drive ( Canadian version ), after installing the engine the G60 hood doesn't close due to the Throttle Body / Intake manifold in teh way how can i solve this, I have read that some convert to VR6 hood and it solves the problem.

as it stood last week updated pics coming shortly.

g60 shift tower fits an o2j ive done it on mine and i can get all gears no problem. Ive got two throttle bodys one is from an agu engine and it hit my bonnet (denting it outwards) A vr6 bonnet should clear it though
