CIPO 0 Posted October 14, 2009 Got an issue with my brake discs at the mo. They were shuddering big time under light braking then tapers off a bit when you brake a little harder. So got new discs! However the problem is back having been fine for a few weeks on the new discs. :mad2: The red brake light is also coming on now intermittantly(the one thats on when the handbrake is on). How can the discs be warped again??? Don't think it's the back discs as have used the handbrake to slow down & there is no shudder..........
markrtw 0 Posted October 14, 2009 When the old disks were removed, were the hubs cleaned up properly? If there is dirt or corrosion on the hubs the disks do not sit properly on them and can warp quite quickly. Are they grooved disks?
mimjed 0 Posted October 14, 2009 checked wheel bearings??
CIPO 0 Posted October 14, 2009 Dunno if the hubs were cleaned & they're not grooved discs. Can't really see it being a wheel bearing as there is no humming noise????
mimjed 0 Posted October 14, 2009 dont always get humming noise in my experience, have you checked disc for any damage? brake fluid level?
nmahi 0 Posted October 14, 2009 bent stub axle....
Meth 0 Posted October 15, 2009 Might be an obvious one but what condition is your calliper in? If your piston is corroded it can leave the brake pads touching the disc and overtime cause the disc to heat up and warp?
CIPO 0 Posted October 16, 2009 Thanks folks. Defo a few possibilities there. Checked the fluid level & it's at the min so that should account for the light........
