Andy-H 0 Posted October 25, 2009 Hi Guys & Gals, Please be gentle as I've not had it long :( Firstly, when I turn the car off, it seems to "run on" for a bit. Not a lot, just takes it's time to stop turning over. Timing perhaps?? Secondly, on a (not so :mad2: ) jolly to Meadowhell today, I got to a roundabout in the traffic and it just spluttered and stopped :( . After 2 mins of searching under the bonnet, I gave it one last try before calling for the yellow army and it fired into life and has been completely fine since. First thought is coilpack as all the dubs I've had seem to have needed one shortly after I bought it. What do you guys think?? P.S. its a 2.0 16v Cheers, Andy
Conker 0 Posted October 26, 2009 Could it be the fuel relay maybe?
Jay23Sx 0 Posted October 26, 2009 I think mechanics generally look at: 1) Wrong grade of fuel (unledeaded, not super unleaded) 2) Idle speed 3) Engine temp (a hot engine can cause run-on)
Andy-H 0 Posted October 26, 2009 Cheers for the replies, I will check out the relay, maybe replace for the cost of them. The idle was high due to a broken return spring, replaced the entire throttle body and cured the high tickover but still the same. Oil temp never runs over say 102 in traffic but the fan does cut in, maybe if I flushed the rad etc. and put some fresh antifreeze in it may run a bit cooler. millerman 0 Posted October 26, 2009 always thought that overrun was caused by poor timing !
