eugopnosaj 0 Posted November 8, 2009 Ok so something is out somewhere because the MFA is reading about 15-20 degrees above the reading on the dial? i have no idea what i can do to sort this out so any advice would be helpful! :) Also the fan doesnt come on till the MFA reads about 106 and the dial about 90ish, which one would be right and should it come on then or earlier Thanks, J
Swompy 0 Posted November 8, 2009 To me that sounds about right The dial is water temp and the MFA is oil temp and there usaly is a bit of difference between the two

VR6 0 Posted November 8, 2009 Yep, you do know that the MFA temp is oil and the clock temp is coolant?

krnau 0 Posted November 8, 2009 it happens to me as well. but shouldn't coolant temp and oil temp be about the same? I think 20ºC of difference isn't normal. There might be some issues with MFA readings, ie. my MFA jumps from 12 to 12ºC at a time..... all of time...
Gareth_16V 0 Posted November 8, 2009 No, oil and coolant work at different temps. The water doesn't want to be much above 110°C, but the oil will carry on working up to at least 150°. That's why the oil has a very small cooler and the water a very large one! 20°C difference between oil and water is normal.
