is the knocking noise like a clak clak rattle noise?

Could be Detonation.

Loose seal on the exhuast manifold tends to produce a sort of ticking noise.

erm i would say a ticking noise more than a metalic noise

it gets faster obviously the faster i go through the revs, then change of gear and it starts again.

Detonation is possible due to a wobbly crank pully?

Cheers for the suggestions peeps

Ok had the car on the ramps today,

cyl 4 Manifold was loose, as in very loose, the nuts were just about to fall of the bolts :S

So tightened up now and no more noise, also i replaced the Air filter today with a new K&N, also sounds better, old one must have been fecked!

Still gonna get the timing sorted just to make sure but...

THANKS to all the replys, has helped alot
