johnhenry 0 Posted January 1, 2010 hey I've always liked the corrado and ive come across some money, so im going to buy 1 in the next few months and hopefully turn it into something special. But there are a few questions i need to ask as i dont want to go in blind. The vision: Vr6 corrado RWD. > only need front seats > looking at around 200-220 horsepower with strong torque (nothing major done to the block itself) Ive seen a guys corrado on here with RWD (i think) but i just don't have that knowledge to understand what pieces they are talkin about as i dont own/know the car, so its all abit confusing. I just wanted to ask for everyone to point me in the right direction? offer any advice? suggest useful donor parts from other cars? just general help :) cheers John
CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted January 1, 2010 Welcome to the CF mate,to convert a fwd into a rwd will involve a hell of allot more fabrication and custom parts than doing a 4wd car! why would you want to do it in the first place? wil you be doing the work? as for power are you going N/A of FI? for N/A a R32 motor will have the power you need out the box... johnhenry 0 Posted January 1, 2010 hey man! regarding wanting rwd i would be interested in making a corrado RWD because it would just get the weight distribution more even and improve handling? but i am also very open to AWD, it would need a more power but it would provide great stability and an awsome drive. AWD wouldnt involve having to change the engine orientation would it? and theres the 4motion system, would that mate well with a vr6/if it does that would that have enough power in N/A form? if a more powerful engine is needed, then r32 sounds awsome, been in an old bosses which was brilliant. cheers
OllieVR6 0 Posted January 2, 2010 An R32 Corrado is pretty normal around here lol, just check out the members section, quite a few VERY detailed build threads in there.

Awd is a better option but its still time consuming, you would need the 6 cyl only boxes r32/4 mo with transfer attached, then rear syncro axel from a VR6 syncro as the 4 cyl variants are narrower and are 4 stud. you can use the syncro diff if not going silly hp but if its silly power the syncro diff does not hold up well and you will need to fit the later haldex diff and fabricate itto the syncro axel with a kit from http://www.dutchbuild.com/index.php/cPath/17_50 and there is allot of usfull info on there, then the boot floor will need to be replaced with syncro or a custom made one etc....there is allot to do,also the haldex diff is electronicly operated and will need a standalone unit to power it or use the full loom from a r32 when using the r32 motor, its a full swap like coxylad had done to his car on here viewtopic.php?f=11&t=18916 There is also plenty of info on the net, here are a few links. http://www.dutchbuild.com/index.php http://www.dutchbuild.com/index.php http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1755494 http://www.vwsyncro.co.uk/data/forums/t ...
